WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

Dermal fillers are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments available today. As our faces age, we tend to lose volume in a very predictable way, and our faces begin to sag, creating deep furrows, tear troughs, marionette lines, and folds, and jowls start to form. Dermal fillers work to replace this volume that has been lost using a variety of natural molecules that are usually in a gel form that are injected under the skin. The most commonly used fillers at our London clinic are those made from a substance known as hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the skin.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Dermal fillers are an excellent treatment for volume loss and deep lines and fine lines with no downtime and instant results. Fillers are particularly effective for restoring lost volume in our cheeks, reducing the appearance of forehead lines, smoothing out the lines between the nose and the mouth and changing the shape of the nose.

HOW DO DERMAL FILLERS WORK?

Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, keeping our skin hydrated. When dermal fillers are injected to replace the lost volume, not only do they help hydrate the tissues but they also can be strategically placed under the skin in areas of predictable volume loss, to naturally restore the contours of the face in a subtle and gentle way. The body naturally turns over hyaluronic acid so over time the fillers are reabsorbed safely into the body.

FAQ's

What happens at the appointment?

Dr. Jack and Dr. Mennie create a bespoke treatment for every patient. During your consultation at our clinic in Harley Street, London they will quickly put you at ease and take the time to talk through the results you would like to achieve.

In our clinic we always take a holistic approach, identifying the key areas to address and will apply exactly the right amount of filler to balance your face harmoniously. Using anatomical knowledge, gleaned over years of surgical training, both Dr. Jack and Dr. Mennie are experts in natural anti-ageing.

Before filler is applied, the treatment areas will be numbed with a strong local anaesthetic cream to reduce any discomfort.

The filler will then be injected into the area using a tiny needle that administers the hyaluronic acid gel under the skin.

The procedure lasts around 15 minutes.

Is downtime required after the treatment?

One of the many advantages of dermal filler treatments is that, for most patients, it requires no down time. However, it is normal to experience very minimal swelling or bruising at the injection point for a few days following the treatment. This can easily be concealed with make up.

Gently applying arnica gel or cream may also help minimise bruising (avoid rubbing or massaging the area for at least 5 days).

How many treatments do I need?

In order to create a subtle natural looking result without overfilling, Dr. Jack and Dr. Mennie like to use minimal volumes required to show a result and have a gradual approach. Sometimes this will mean doing some filler in one appointment and perhaps a little more after a few weeks if required to give the desired outcome of a more youthful appearance. Each appointment is charged separately and generally fillers are priced per syringe.

How quickly will I see results?

You will see results instantly however the optimum effect will be visible a few days after the treatment when any swelling will have subsided.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal fillers can last up to 12-18 months, depending on the filler used, before they are gradually reabsorbed by the body.

Dr. Jack generally recommend that patients repeat their treatment after a year to maintain the results that dermal fillers can provide.

Can it be combined with other treatments?

Yes, dermal fillers work extremely well in conjunction with other treatments such as botox to optimise your anti-aging programme.

To get the best possible natural anti-ageing results, Dr David Jack takes an holistic approach to beauty, treating your face as a whole, rather than isolating certain areas. Dermal filler treatment at our London clinic is very effective on its own but when used in conjunction with other treatments it can achieve excellent anti-ageing results.
