What is Morpheus 8?

Morpheus 8 is a fractional skin treatment that stimulates collagen production of the underlying layers of the dermis. By targeting the deeper layers of the skin, the building blocks will reorganise themselves in a natural anti-ageing process improving skin laxity. Dr. Jack is an international ambassador and KOL for Morpheus8 and regularly teaches other doctors on this technique for skin tightening.

The way Morpheus8 works is by creating micro-injuries on the skin using titanium microneedles, coupled with radiofrequency energy, which heats the layers deep to the skin. The micro-injuries, in combination with the radiofrequency heating stimulate a reaction in the skin, which (over the following 3-6 months) increases the levels of collagen and elastin in the skin, to tighten and lift and thicken the supporting layers of the skin. This makes it an ideal treatment for sagging, lax or sun damaged skin of all skin types.

Morpheus8, compared to other forms of radiofrequency microneedling or skin resurfacing has several benefits, including more precise targeting of skin depth for deeper tightening and reduced risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation, by virtue of the silicone coating on the micro pins.

What areas can be treated?

Morpheus8 can be used on any area of lax skin that is showing signs of ageing such as lines and wrinkles, anywhere on the body. The most commonly treated areas include the lower face and neck, double chin and abdomen. Knees and thighs are also a popular area for treatment. Areas of the face and body that are showing signs of discolouration, stretch marks or acne scarring are also suitable for treatment.

With stretch marks, we will often combine this treatment with carboxytherapy for best results

How many Morpheus8 treatments will be needed?

Morpheus8 London – depending on your treatment regime you can expect to have between 2-3 sessions. For acne scarring, often a resurfacing treatment will be performed which may require 4 sessions for optimal results

What kind of post procedure care is required?

Patients of all skin types should moisturise the treatment area and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use a good, broad spectrum sunscreen every day. In addition to reducing their future risk of skin cancer, sunscreens also reduce wrinkles and slow the ageing process.

FAQ's

WHAT IS THE TREATMENT LIKE?

For face and neck skin treatments, usually a strong topical numbing cream will be applied for 1 hour before the procedure starts. This allows the Morpheus8 treatment to be performed with minimal pain or discomfort. For body treatments, usually a series of local anaesthetic injections will be performed in the area being treated.

The treatment itself takes around 15-20 minutes, during which you may experience a slight electrical sensation under the skin with each pulse.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME LIKE?

Morpheus8 has minimal downtime. Immediately post-procedure, your skin is likely to be slightly red and swollen. During this time it is important to keep the skin clean and dry and avoid any harsh skincare products. For about 2-3 days afterwards the skin usually feels slightly bumpy (this can continue for up to 2 weeks) but redness usually will settle quickly. For resurfacing treatments for acne scarring, redness is likely to continue for slightly longer.

WHAT KIND OF POST PROCEDURE CARE IS REQUIRED?

Patients should moisturise the treatment area from day 1 post-procedure, with a gentle moisturiser and avoid direct sun exposure. It is also recommended that patients use a good, broad spectrum sunscreen every day [Link to Dr. David Jack All Day Long]. In addition to reducing their future risk of skin cancer, sunscreens also reduce wrinkles and slow the ageing process.

For 3 days post-treatment we usually advise to avoid any harsh skincare products containing glycolic acid, strong retinoids or salicylic acid. Normal skincare routines can be resumed when the skin is no longer red or feeling bumpy.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?

The final results from the treatment will take around 6 months to be fully evident. Some patients see results earlier than this but we always advise to be patient!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE TREATMENT?

The main aim of the treatment is to tighten and lift the skin and improve the thickness and quality of the supporting layers of the skin. The results from the treatment are dependent on your own body’s response to the treatment itself so results vary from person to person and there cannot be any guarantee of the eventual outcome.

WHAT DO PEOPLE SAY ABOUT MORPHEUS8?
